Banana Republic

Following the white supremacist riot in Washington D.C. this past week, former president (present day war criminal) George W. Bush, along with many white political pundits took the position that such insurrections were unbecoming of American exceptionalism and more akin to “banana republics.” Now, beyond the obvious willful ignorance and ridiculous irony, as the children of so-called banana republics (and for that matter, “shit-hole” countries), it is our responsibility to remind the American populace, that it is the United States of America that is the architect, builder, and perennial landlord of the eponymous Banana Republic. The sovereignty of our Latin American nations as well as the blood of our people was sacrificed at the altar of cheap bananas in the produce aisle for white people.

So the next time you hear “banana republic,” just tell them, “It’s imperialism, stupid.” #bananarepublic#imperialism
