El Plan de Cuzcatlán

Today as we celebrate Independence Day for Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica, please remember that these very same nation states spent the 19th and 20th centuries trying eradicate indigenous and afro-descendent communities in various forms, through mass murder, land theft, ladinization, and removal from the historical record.

Now, this is not meant to squash your celebration. We can all celebrate our heritage while still being sober enough to recognize and rectify the misdeeds done in the name of the nation.
