El Yigüirro

Part (2/2) Behold the Yigüirro (turdus grayi) the national bird of Costa Rica! While this little bird may not have the the bright and fancy colors of other Central American birds, she sings unlike any other, filling the mornings with her melodic song. Check the link below!

In El Salvador, she is known as the Cenzontle or “Chonte” for short, and from which we derive the caliche term “chontear.”
