Central American Unicorns

Central American Unicorns

Back in April of this year, I had the enormous privilege of having been invited by Prof. Maya Chinchilla to have a dialogue with her Central American Diaspora class at UC Santa Cruz. That event was just such a life-giving experience. So this is my small measure of gratitude. Inspired by Maya’s “What it’s like to be a Central American Unicorn for Those Who Aren’t” in her book of poetry, The Cha Cha Files: A Chapina Poética.

Dedicated to Maya and all the sweet and wonderful Central American students I met that day. And to all of you Central American unicorns out there, you are beautiful, full of color and life, and y’all better believe hella magical.
