Mi madre contra su patrona
Mi madre contra su patrona
En honor del cumpleaños de mi madre, un pequeño tributo a su ferocidad.
In honor of my mama’s 81st birthday, a small tribute to her fierceness.
Translation:
“When I had recently arrived to the U.S., I got a job as a domestic all the way in Rancho Palos Verdes. I had to stay there from Monday to Friday. On Friday afternoon, I would go back to L.A. to spend my weekends with Salvadoran friends. A few months later, the boss lady started bugging that she wanted me to stay the entire week. Y would tell her no. Well, can you believe that she tried to force me to stay? She pointed to me with her finger and said:
Boss Lady: “I order you to stay! If not, I will call immigration!”
Ha! That lady was no match for me. I answered:
Mama: “Look lady…Here is the phone and you go ahead and call. If they deport me today, well tomorrow I will come back. But I am no one’s servant!”
The lady didn’t know what to do and stayed real quiet. From then on, she stopped screwing with me.
