Salvadoran Children Deported by Mexico in 2015
The Universidad Centroamericana José Simeón Cañas in El Salvador has compiled this amazing database with numbers and demographic of Salvadoran migrants who have been deported by both the U.S. and Mexico, going as far back as 2012. There is also data on reasons for migration, location of detention, as well states/departments with most deportations.
I’ve decided to take a snippet of all this data to create an inforgraph depicting the number of Salvadoran minors deported by both the U.S. and Mexico from January 1, 2014 through June 30, 2016.
The data does not indicate how many of these minors were unaccompanied. While the data is categorized by age and sex of deportees, I chose to give a summation of numbers for both sexes. Please also bear in mind that these numbers are JUST for El Salvador. The numbers of deported minors will rise considerably once you factor in Guatemalan and Honduran deportees. That data is not yet available.
