San Romero: Defensor de los acusados

San Romero: Defensor de los acusados

March 24, 2024 marks 44th anniversary of the assassination of Monseñor Óscar Arnulfo Romero. He died in defense of our people.

Despite being raised a Catholic, I do not believe in god, or Jesus, or any of the teachings of the church. But I do believe that Monseñor Romero was ambassador to the best teachings of Christ. Monseñor possessed a profound love for our people, and compassion for those who needed the love of his god the most.

And so, if Monseñor were alive today, he would be at the defense of those who need it most, the 75,000+ Salvadoran souls who have been arbitrarily arrested and deprived of their human rights. He would defend the rights of the accused REGARDLESS of their guilt or innocence on the very principle that every single person must be treated as a human being.

Today, Monseñor Romero would continue to be an advocate for justice, and thus, he would be an enemy to the Salvadoran state.
